Heartburn is rampant. Even children can be subject to it’s discomforts. Call it acid reflux, GERD, or heartburn, you still want to know a quick fix for heartburn.
The following tips will help you get immediate relief. What you really want is a real cure, and that actually is possible naturally. But for now try these ideas.
1. Gum chewing, right after their meal, is helpful for many people. But, not peppermint. Strange, but for some it just doesn’t work. The chewing of gum produces saliva which washes down the esophagus and helps put that acid back into the stomach.
2. Whatever you can do to cause the creation of saliva can be helpful. The saliva helps to rinse the food passageway. Hard candies work for this as well as gum chewing. Saliva has the qualities of bicarbonate and help digestion.
3. My Dad’s favorite relief came from a tablespoon of bicarbonate of soda mixed in a glass of water. For him it seemed to work fairly well. It helped me also, but, I had more trouble with the taste than Dad did.
4. Apple Cider vinegar mixed in warm water will do the same rinsing as baking soda and might be easier for you to swallow.
5. Herb Tea helps sometimes. But not just any herbs. Ginger is good, so is basil and oregano. Remember the dried herbs are more potent than fresh ones. Use about a tablespoon in 2 cups of hot water, and let ti steep for about half an hour. Be sure to strain the tea before you drink it. Some folks take this tea about 20 or 30 minutes before their meals and find it helps. It also helps to take a hot cup of this tea before bed.
These are natural quick fixes for heartburn that you can use whenever it strikes. They offer only temporary relief. The smartest thing to do is to cure your acid reflux, and it can be done naturally.
