Natural Constipation Remedies That Really Work

Friday, December 4th, 2009

Everyone at some point in their life is going to experience constipation to some degree. It can make you very uncomfortable. When you are constipated you know it. Usually, when you have not had a bowel movement for a week it is safe to say that you are constipated. Finding constipation remedies are easier than you may think. There are different methods out there from natural to medicinal. What works for one person may not work for another. If you regularly exercise and then stop this may be the reason why you are feeling blocked up. If you have made changes to your diet lately that can also affect your bowel movements. Are you pregnant? If so, this may be the cause for your constipation. Sometimes, it is just the mere reality of aging that can cause one to find they are having trouble with their gastrointestinal system.

A change in your daily routine such as how much you exercise can cause your body to slow down your metabolism. You will not digest food the same way and so you may notice that your bowel movements are not as frequent. If you are feeling really stressed out about something in your life this can also make you constipated. Think about when you are really stressed. Your muscles usually tense up. You are unable to relax. So this can also cause your body to struggle with producing a bowel movement.

If you have made changes to your diet figure out what you changed and if that is the cause of your feelings of constipation. Make slow changes to your diet so that your body can ease into the transition. Sometimes if you travel and eat different foods than your body is used to digesting you can become constipated. Extreme changes in diet, even for the better, can have an affect on how food is digested and excreted.

For women who are pregnant or may become pregnant in the future you should be aware that constipation is likely to happen. As your uterus grows to inhabit the baby your organs get moved around. This makes it very difficult for food to travel through the proper channels as normal.

Obviously, as you can see from what I have stated above anyone at any age can become constipated. When you become older, though, your body naturally slows down. It becomes harder for the body to excrete wastes without some sort of assistance.

Remedies to fight constipation vary from natural to medicinal. The right remedy for you may not be the right remedy for your friend or neighbor. Sometimes it is a combination of remedies that will work. So, find what works for you. For some people starting an exercise routine does the trick. Simply try walking everyday for 15-30 minutes. This will stimulate your body to digest food and get rid of it. Try getting more fluids everyday. Drink lots of water. This will help in softening your stools.

Another way to relieve the irregularity is to consume lots of fiber. Fiber is found in many of the foods we eat as well as in many health supplements. There are really tasty cereals and you can even add fiber with pop-tarts. Fiber is also found in many fruits and vegetables. You can stock up on those. There are some breads and granola bars that you can also get with your daily fiber quota.

Speaking of the grocery store you can also buy over the counter products to help pass your bowel. There are all different types of laxatives. There are pills you can swallow and powders you can add to drinks. You should read the labels before buying and go for natural remedies where possible.

Hopefully, one or two of these suggestions works for you. After trying some of these remedies without success please contact your physician. There can be other reason for being constipated that may not be remedied this way. You may need medical assistance.

Natural constipation remedies are needed when pregnant so consider specially formulated pregnancy health remedies.

Simple Cures for Indigestion

Tuesday, April 28th, 2009

There is ample information on the internet that tries to explain how to cure indigestion. In order to go beyond simply treating symptoms and into a real cure, you have to understand what indigestion is and why you get it. In order to cure indigestion, you have to stabilize the acids that the body will naturally produce, which often means a change in diet, a detoxification stage, and a gentle reintroduction of foods and liquids.

If you want to naturally cure indigestion you have to start with the basics. Since indigestion is a reaction that the body produces when certain foods, or amounts of foods, are introduced, you can start by eliminating those foods. Additionally, reducing acid production might mean changes in clothing, habits, and eating patterns. Indigestion happens when the body creates too much of the natural acids in the stomach which can cause gas, bloating, and heart burn.

Your diet plays a vital role in whether or not your stomach is creating an overproduction of stomach acid. If you are a heavy coffee drinker, you eat tons of spicy foods or foods with a high fat or sugar content you are likely to develop indigestion. In order to naturally cure indigestion, you simply need to start by taking away the coffee, the dairy, and the remaining trigger foods that send your stomach into over drive. This is a good time to bring in a detoxification plan.

Once you removed the trigger foods, invest some time in changing your eating habits. Wear less restrictive clothing to prevent pressure from forcing additional gas or acid back up into the esophagus. Refrain from resting right after a meal, and replace your after dinner coffee and sugary treat with a walk around the block. The simple act of walking can encourage healthier digestion, especially if you are starting the process with bland foods that are less likely to irritate the stomach.

Chew your food thoroughly and stop eating when you are full. When the body is not hungry, it doesnt take in additional food very well. Never rush through the meal and allow yourself plenty of time after a meal before adding any more foods, like dessert. Simply calming down the diet, eating in smaller quantities but eating more frequently, and walking after a meal can be enough for many people to cure indigestion and the impact it has on their life.
